This easy drive through Barcelona is a wonderful introduction to one of Spain's most beautiful cities.

The downhill drive takes you to Plaza d'España and the old bullring that is used today for political rallies and theater performances. The street is lined with the city's most elegant shops, and some of Antoni Gaudi's most eye-catching buildings.

On Barcelona's main thoroughfare, Avenida Diagonal, you get your first glimpse of the city's most eccentric landmark - Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia, left unfinished after his death in 1926. Approx. 4 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Cadiz stands on a peninsula jutting out into a bay, and is almost entirely surrounded by water. Named Gadir by the Phoencians, who founded their trading post in 1100 BC, it was later controlled by the Carthaginians, until it became a thriving Roman port. It sank into oblivion under the Visigoths and Moors, but attained great splendor in the early 16th century as a launching point for the journey to the newly discovered lands of America.

Some of the city´s 18th century walls still stand, such as the Landward Gate. The old, central quarter of Cadiz is famous for its picturesque charm, and many of the buildings reflect the city´s overseas links.

You will be picked up from your cruise ship port or hotel for a panoramic tour of Cadiz and a guided visit of San Felipe Neri Church. Located in the Plaza San Felipe Neri, this 17th century church is famous throughout Spain as the place where, in defiance of Napoleon´s siege, the provisional government was set up with its own liberal Constitution. After that, enjoy a guided visit to the Archeology Museum, Located in the Plaza de Mina in a 19th century building by Juan Daura.

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Minimum number of passengers: 8     (Smaller group? Ask us for pricing!)

This is a private tour. Lunch is at your own expense. Since this is a custom tour and the itinerary is merely a suggestion, any entrance fees are payable separately, depending on the actual attractions you select. Your driver will provide basic narration only and will not be accompanying you inside the attractions. If you require the services of a specialist guide, one can be arranged at an extra cost. Subject to traffic conditions and your actual ship schedule, itinerary and duration may be modified as neccesary to fit your needs. Tours may be extended beyond the 9 hours at an additional cost, payable directly to the guide.

This tour is from LA SPEZIA. (If your ship is docking at Livorno, please see our tours from Livorno below). This tour has been designed for guests who wish to combine a comprehensive tour of Florence with the world famous Miracle Square of Pisa. You can also choose to skip Pisa if you prefer more time in Florence. Our tour includes the return transfer from La Spezia to Florence.

Prices are based on 8pax in a minivan. (Other group sizes will be subject to surcharges). This is a distinct advantage over the ship's tours as large buses are not allowed to enter certain areas of Florence and will require extensive walking to cover the sights.

Your driver will pick you up at the ship's pier in La Spezia. Enjoy a leisurely drive to Florence. Situated on both banks of the Arno River and surrounded by the Appennine Hills, the city had an impact not only on the culture of Italy but on all of Europe. Upon reaching the city, you will pause at Piazzale Michelangelo for a spectacular view of Florence, the entire Arno Valley and the Ponte Vecchio crossing the Arno River.

You may also visit the Church of Santa Croce, known as Italy's Westminster Abbey. Its 14th-century interior is one of the finest examples of Florentine Gothic decoration and much of the Italian monarchy is buried there, including other famous sons like Michelangelo. Note that the Church of Santa Croce is closed on Sundays, during special events, and mass services. (If you decide to visit the museum inside this attraction, entrance fee of approx 4 euros is payable there).

Afterwards, continue to "Accademia Museum" to view one of Michelangelo's most treasured creations, the statue of "David." Having survived the outdoor elements of Signoria Square, the magnificent sculpture was moved inside the museum in 1873, where it remains today. Also on display in the museum are paintings by Botticelli, Daddi, and Raphael.

If you wish to visit the Accademia of Uffizi, we can secure your tickets in advance so that you can avoid the long lines (advance tickets are 9.5 euros pp for Accademia, and 11.50 euros pp for Uffizi, payable to driver on day of tour; please advise if you would like this service).

Your guide will provide basic commentary before you tour the interior of the museum on your own. The allocated time for Accademia or Uffizi is approximately 30 mins based on this itinerary. However, this is a custom tour, so you can certainly choose to stay longer, or visit both museums, if you would rather shorten the time spent at other attractions.

Please note that most museums are closed on Mondays, including the Accademia and Uffizi. On such days, you will have more time for shopping or for bonus sights like Palazzo Pitti or San Frediano (see below).

Time permitting, you can visit the leather market for shopping before proceeding to the Duomo. At the Piazza del Duomo, you will witness the stunning features of the Duomo itself, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, along with its magnificent Baptistery and the Campanile (Giotto's bell tower). The fourth largest church in the world, the Duomo was consecrated in 1436, although its facade dates from the 19th century. The exterior design is of beautiful green and white marble and its magnificent dome, created by Filippo Brunelleschi, is a masterpiece. The east doors, which depict scenes from the Old Testament, are often referred to as the "Gates of Paradise."

Enjoy the narrows streets, visiting Palazzo Vecchio (the residence of the Medici family) and the elegant Ponte Vecchio. Meaning "old bridge," the Ponte Vecchio dates back to 1345, when it was built to replace a bridge that was swept away by a horrible flood. Today, the bridge is visited by many tourists, and is home to gold and jewelry vendors.

Time permitting, you may visit the Boboli Gardens inside Palazzo Pitti. Or alternatively, choose to to visit the residential district of San Frediano for a taste of where real Florentines live. These bonus attractions, including shopping, can only be included if there is extra time. If certain attractions are more important than others, please make sure that your driver is aware of it.

In the early afternoon, you will leave Florence and enjoy the 40-minute drive to the university town of Pisa where you will have a brief stop by the Field of Miracles for photographs and to marvel at the exterior of the Campanile, better known as the Leaning Tower. This famous Bell Tower leans over 16 feet out of perpendicular! Efforts to stabilize the building are made constantly together with a continued monitoring process of the structure. Time permitting, you will also see Lungarno and Cavalieri Square. After your tour of Pisa, relax on the half hour transfer back to your ship in La Spezia, having enjoyed an exhilarating day in one of the greatest cultural capitals of Europe.

Although our use of smaller vehicles will cut down on walking time, please be aware that there will still be walks, sometimes over cobblestoned surfaces. Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Most of the major sites are wheelchair-accessible.

This tour is from LA SPEZIA. (If your ship is docking at Livorno, please see our tours from Livorno below). This tour combines the best of both worlds: the highlights of historic Florence and a taste of the charming Tuscany countryside.

Start the day with a leisurely hour and a half drive from La Spezia to Florence. Once in Florence, explore its myriad attractions. You decide which attractions you'd like to visit... perhaps the Piazzale Michelangelo, Piazza Signoria, the Duomo, Long River, or if you prefer, the Accademia Museum.

We suggest 3 hours of sightseeing in Florence, but you may adjust that accordingly, depending on how much time you'd like to spend exploring Tuscany.

Upon leaving Florence, take a leisurely 40-minute drive towards the Tuscany region, famous for its soft rounded hills, the medieval architecture of the villages and the silver green of the olive trees, contrasted with the dark green stands of cypress trees.

Time permitting, stop at San Gimignano, an enchanting medieval village that has taken the name of the Bishop Gimignano, who saved the City from the barbarians. Also known as "The Town of the Fine Towers," the town is so called because fortified walls and watchtowers were hallmarks of power and prosperity in the Middle Ages. Thirteen of the town?s original 76 towers remain.

Alternatively, you may wish to stop at a winery instead. You may add winetasting and a light lunch for an additional 25 euros per person (subject to change), payable on the day of the tour.

After a wonderful day taking in the historic sights of Florence and the charms of the Tuscan countryside, head back to La Spezia.

Lisbon, Portugal

Full Day Lisbon, Sintra and Estoril Combo Tour

Order code: NTA-FDCOM

Approx. 8 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

This combo tour allows you to maximize your time at port, by combining the best of Lisbon and the surrounding areas of Sintra and the Estoril coast.

Starting at the ship, we will drive you to the town of Cascais, through a special road named ?Marginal? by the Portuguese, running always parallel to the white sandy beaches.

This is the Estoril Coast, where Cascais belongs. Once a small fishing village only, the town managed to maintain its seafaring traditions combined with the aristocratic and royal presences of the late 19th and early 20th century. Passing through its animated town centre, you?ll find the cosmopolitan life, side by side with the Atlantic.

The tour will follow to Sintra, where hundreds of years of history and culture await you. Doing a short walk in the old city centre, you?ll find yourself surrounded by the old houses now converted into small quaint handicraft shops and traditional pastry shops.

Then it will be time to continue to one of the highlights of the day: the Pena Palace. Driving around the mountain, passing by amazing chalets and aristocratic residences you will reach the 19th century Pena Palace in the most incredible combination of architectural styles, colors and shapes that you will find in Portugal.

After browsing through hundreds of years of history it will be time for lunch.

Then return to the capital of Portugal. Lisbon was colonized by many civilizations along the centuries: Phoenicians, Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Moors and finally the Portuguese after 1147. We will visit St. George Castle, including its surrounding quarter and Alfama, Lisbon's oldest quarter. This city is linked with the heroic deeds of the Portuguese maritime exploration, in the 15th and 16th centuries.

This was the Age of Discoveries and the Golden Era of Portugal, transforming Lisbon into the opulent centre of a vast empire. Part of the wealth from these expeditions was used to build magnificent monuments, in a unique Portuguese style: the extravagant Manueline architectural style, best typified in Jerónimos Monastery (closed on Monday).

Some of these monuments can still be seen, especially in the area of Belém. But Lisbon has more than just monuments! We will also visit the traditional commerce zones of the city, with their 18th century buildings: the Downtown and the Chiado.

Approx. 8 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Lunch and winetasting fees not included.

This diverse tour covers Arles (the city of art and history), Saint Remy and winetasting.

Arles has many faces: A Guided Walking tour to the ?Theater Antique? and the Roman Amphitheater, built from 20 to 10 BC brings you back to the Roman period when the town was founded. At this time 20 000 spectators could be seated in the Arena. This is now the main venue for bull fighting events.

Free time for Shopping: Arles is the center for the famous ?Santons of Provence? (figurines) and with its rich past, architectural and artistic treasures, Arles is indeed one of the most important centers of Provence. The painter Vincent van Gogh left his stamp with his painting of the ?Langlois Bridge?. He in fact painted and drew more than 300 works in Arles before moving to St. Rémy.

Then proceed to Saint Rémy, the native town of Nostradamus (1503) and of the Felibridge Family, one of the Provence Landlords contributing to its development.

Stroll around the medieval and ?Renaissance? Saint Rémy before enjoying your Lunch (optional) in one of the local ?Bistot?s?.

After that, tour the ?GLANUM EXCAVATIONS?. These Roman remains are set against the magnificent scenery of the Alpilles mountains. The site dates from two periods: the Gallo-Greek age (2nd to 1st centuries B.-C.) and the Gallo-Roman era (end of the 1st century B.-C. to the third century AD).

Finally take a walk in the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh, the painter, depicting the last part of his life ( 1889 - 1890 ) and see the Saint Paul de Mausole and its Sanatorium, where Vincent was confined after his stay in Arles. Here he produced the most important paintings of his life.

You will also have a chance to tour and enjoy winetasting at a local vineyard, rounding off a magnificent day. Please inquire about our variety of winetasting options.

St Tropez and the Wine Route of Provence

Order code: PRS-MSTTW

Approx. 10 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Not included: Lunch and Winetasting fees (ranges from from 8? to 20?), payable on day of tour.

A Full Day tour in gently undulating countryside with several stops in the Wine Country of the SAINT TROPEZ Peninsula This is a Full Day tour in gently undulating countryside, with several stops in the wine country of the SAINT TROPEZ Peninsula. You will visit the village of Saint Tropez and, time permiting, Ramatuelle & Gassin, plus stop for winetasting.

Wine was introduced to France 600 BC by the Phoenicians. The Romans later divided the region into large domains and, being experienced producers, introduced new grape varieties and improved wine-making methods.

The wines of Provence became well-known outside France during the Middle Ages. They were taken to the London court by Eleanore of Provence who became Queen of England. They were the favorite wines of French Kings in the 17th/18th Century.

The vineyard has been called ?Côtes de Provence? since the 19th Century. The end of the 20th Century marks their rebirth, as quality wines linked to the region?s geography, its climate and the growers? ?savoir faire?.

From the early 20th century, excessive production had harmful effects on the quality of wine and measures had to be taken to protect it. Trade associations were founded to improve the quality of the products and the new trade requirements led to the certification of wines. The AOC (Appellation d?Origine Contrôlée - certified origin wine) became the main reference for wine production, with strict rules for its application defined by a decree in 1935. The motto is: ?Quality ? not Quantity?.

We will visit the vineyards and the wine cellar, and then organize a wine tasting of several varieties, labeled "Côtes de Provence" which is increasingly valuable these days. An ?Oënologue? will tell you all the secrets about wine. You can discover the quality and wine variety, and learn how to evaluate a "Côte de Provence" wine, its color, its bouquet and its aromas.

Return to your ship after an exhilarating day!

For an extra splash of luxury, we can even organize A HELICOPTER RIDE (ONE WAY or ROUND TRIP) for you!

Enjoy a relaxing day out in one of this area's most delightful medieval hilltop towns, enjoying the two pastimes cherished by the French... wine and art!

The tapering outline of Saint Paul stands out from afar above the rolling hills and rich valleys of the Vence countryside in a charming setting. Set on a spur, behind ramparts of the Middle Ages, which are still intact, it is a maze of narrow alleys and has retained much of its medieval appearance.

This town was put on the map in the 1920s by painters such as Modigliani, Bonnard and Soutine who used to meet in a café which has since become the sumptuous Colombe d?Or, its walls hung with paintings as in a gallery. Art is everywhere : stroll along the Rue Grande with its art galleries, artists? studios and antique shops.

Visit a museum on this tour. Located in a lush, verdant setting, The Marguerite and Aimé Maeght Foundation is a unique example of a private foundationtion in Europe. Painters and sculpturs worked in direct collaboration with Catalan architect Josp-Lluis Sert. Here you will admire the most important collections of the 20th Century : Arp, Brauque, Chagall, Giacometti, Léger, Miro etc.

From the Ramparts is a superb view of the Alps and the sea, and on the bottom are the vineyards! We offer you a taste of the special grape varieties like Pissoua and Viognier in the Wine Cellar of Saint Paul.

Naples, Italy

Pompeii and Sorrento/Amalfi Coast

Order code: RAF-NAPOA

Approx. 7-8 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Minimum number of passengers: 8     (Smaller group? Ask us for pricing!)

This is a private tour. Lunch is at your own expense. Please verify menu prices before ordering. Since this is a custom tour and the itinerary below is merely a suggestion, any entrance fees are payable separately, depending on the actual attractions you select. Includes services of a driver who will provide basic narration only. If you require services of a specialist guide, one can be arranged at extra cost.

This tour is based on 8 hours. Extra charges are payable to the driver if you decide to tour longer (35 to 50 euros per vehicle per extra hour, depending on vehicle type). Subject to traffic conditions and your actual ship schedule, itinerary and duration may be modified as necessary to fit your needs.

Note that you must be able to walk approximately 1.5 miles over cobblestone and rocky streets. There is a steep incline at the entrance with 20 to 25 steps. Comfortable walking shoes, hat, and sunscreen are recommended. Pompeii is not wheelchair accessible.

This excursion combines highlights of the gorgeous Amalfi coastline to Sorrento (and Positano, traffic and time permitting) with the Ruins of Pompeii. Your driver will meet you at the ship to start your tour.

Relax on the drive to the excavations of Pompeii. You'll visit the extensive ruins of Pompeii, site of one of the most famous excavations in the world. Ironically, one of the ancient world's worst disasters preserved the passage of time in Pompeii. Here, you will experience life as it was lived in 79 AD. A thriving empire over 1,900 years ago, it was devastated by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, when 30 feet of volcanic ash and pumice stone covered the city.

For small groups (8pax or less), your driver will provide basic commentary before you enter but will not accompany you inside Pompeii. You may rent audio guides or hire a specialist guide there if you require detailed commentary. (note: Pompeii is closed on 1st January, 1st May and 25th December). Larger groups will be accompanied by a guide.

As you enter Pompeii by the Sea Gate, a short walk takes you to the city's hub, the Forum. Surrounded by lavish temples and porticoes, you'll begin to grasp the lifestyle of the inhabitants. Admire the mansions and the art of wealthy patricians who moved to Pompeii to escape the turmoil of Rome; view countless paintings and inscriptions. See the streets with raised pavements on both side and the stepping-stones that ensured pedestrians a safe crossing at intersections. If you prefer not to visit Pompeii, we can substitute this with another attraction.

After your tour of Pompeii, travel to the picturesque town of Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast. Admire the dolomite cliffs, towering straight up out of the sea, and typical villages, which have characterized Sorrento's peninsular for many centuries. Pause for a photo opportunity at a vantage point to admire Sorrento's breathtaking coast. You may stop for an optional lunch in Sorrento or explore the charming town on your own.

Time permitting, drive along the steep winding coastal road passing Positano, a pretty fishing village, which has become something of a colony of artists and writers. This itinerary does not include stops in Positano. Should you wish to do so, parking charges may apply, payable directly to the guide.

Please note that the itinerary and towns visited may need to be modified due to parking conditions, local regulations and the heavy traffic in this area.

Herculaneum (OR Pompeii), with Amalfi town and coastline

Order code: RAF-AMALFI

Approx. 8 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

This is a private tour. Lunch is at your own expense. Please verify menu prices before ordering. Since this is a custom tour and the itinerary below is merely a suggestion, any entrance fees are payable separately, depending on the actual attractions you select. This tour is based on 8 hours. Extra charges are payable to the driver if you decide to tour longer. Tours for 8pax or less are with a driver who will provide basic narration only. Larger groups will be accompanied by a specialist guide. Subject to traffic conditions and your actual ship schedule, itinerary and duration may be modified as neccesary to fit your needs. Note that you must be able to walk over cobblestone and rocky ground. Comfortable walking shoes, hat, and sunscreen are recommended.

This excursion combines a visit to the town of Amalfi, a photo stop at Positano (time permitting), as well as the famous ruins of Herculaneum (or if you prefer, Pompeii). Your guide will meet you at the ship to start your tour.

Discovered in 1709, Herculaneum was buried under mud during the eruption of Vesuvius - which preserved the city. Your walking tour takes in well-preserved Roman villas with portico gardens, fountains and baths. The highlights include the well-preserved wall frescoes and floor mosaics.

Note: Instead of Herculaneum, you may prefer to visit Pompeii instead.

Then head to the picturesque town of Amalfi, from which the fabled Amalfi Coast takes its name. The town of Amalfi enjoyed a prestigious past when it was once a major naval power. Made of a labyrinth of narrow lanes and alleyways that climb the surrounding hills, the town features typical Mediterranean style architecture with houses piled one on top of the other. Here you can sample the local Lemoncella drink or perhaps visit the celebrated "Paradise Cloister" built in Arabian style that dates back to the thirteenth century. Explore the village and shop for handcrafted majolica ware, an Amalfi Coast specialty since the Middle Ages.

Time permitting, drive along the steep winding coastal road passing Positano, a pretty fishing village, which has become something of a colony of artists and writers. Enjoy a photo stop at the top of the town.

Please note that the itinerary and towns visited may need to be modified due to parking conditions, local regulations and the heavy traffic in this area.

Then take a panoramic drive past the Circus Maximus, the Palatine Hill and the Baths of Caracalla. Spend a half hour exploring the Catacombs with a guide on the Ancient Appian Way, 5 miles from the center of Rome.

Back in the heart of Rome, stop for a visit inside the Pantheon, the best conserved monument of Ancient Rome as well as the nearby Santa Maria Sopra Minerva housing Michelangelo's "Risen Christ," time permitting. You can stop for an optional lunch and enjoy traditional Italian cuisine.

Continue with a 45 minute stroll through Baroque and Renaissance Rome: from piazza Navona through the narrow streets of Antiques Row to Campo Fiore and Piazza Farnese. See Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Capitol Hill and Piazza del Popolo. Stroll through the narrow streets admiring statues, fountains and discovering curiousities.

Your tour continues with a drive to the Vatican City, the smallest state in the world. St. Peter's Basilica took well over 100 years to build and is the largest church in the world, resting on 800 pillars and graced with 44 alters.

Visit the Vatican Museum where an exceptional collection of artwork from every era is on display. Over one thousand rooms and galleries contain thousands of amazing treasures collected by the Popes throughout the centuries. You will have time to only see a portion of the many beautiful pieces of work.

Then, you'll visit the Sistine Chapel, highlighted by Michelangelo's masterpieces and the impressive frescoes, including the "Last Judgment." Dominating the chapel is Michelangelo's ceiling painting of the "Creation of the World."

If you are particularly interested in art and architecture, the tour can be tailored to include masterpieces by Michelangelo or Raphael, Bernini or Caravaggio in various churches, time permitting. Your tour ends at your hotel in Rome.

Note: The Vatican Museum is closed on Sundays. You can either choose a more leisurely/in-depth touring at the other attractions or substitute with any attractions of your choice, time permitting. One possibility is the Borghese Gallery containing masterpieces by Caravaggio and Bernini. Pre-booking is mandatory if you choose to visit this museum.

Island-in-the-Sky Escape (Civita di Bagnoregio and Orvieto)

Order code: LIM-BAGNO

Approx. 7-9 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Minimum number of passengers: 8     (Smaller group? Ask us for pricing!)

This is a private tour. This tour is off-the-beaten path, involves significant walking and requires the ability to navigate steep steps. Includes services of a driver who will provide basic narration. Does not include lunch or entrance fees.

This tour is a Portcompass exclusive and is not offered by the cruise lines. It is well-suited to those who have already been to Rome before and would like an alternative; a completely different experience that is off-the-beaten-track. Civita di Bagnoregio is one of travel author Rick Steves' favorite picks, and for good reason. It's a spectacular island in the sky, with a landscape like no other. The only access is via a pedestrian bridge, which will transport you to a place untouched by motor traffic and time. Indeed, donkeys have to be used to transport provisions to town! Inhabited since Etruscan times 2500 years ago, little has changed due to the town?s forced isolation by its peculiar geologic erosion.

On your drive to Civita di Bagnoregio, the flat plains will suddenly drop into a vast crater within which Civita resides, perched on the top of a small volcanic outcrop, rising out of the crater. Completely surrounded by the crater, it seems impossible to reach this isolated town, but you will soon notice the pedestrian footbridge that links this gem to the rest of the world. To reach the bridge, walk down steps constructed along the cliff face. Entering through the medieval gate, you will see ruins erected by the Etruscans. The road leads to the main square where the forum was located. You will also observe a church with a Romanesque bell tower (built over the ruins of a pagan temple) and a courtyard of a former bishop's palace with Roman capitals and various funerary stones. Enjoy your walking tour through the narrow streets and squares and allow yourself to be transported back to an Italy untouched by time.

After the fascinating walking tour of Civita and the breathtaking views from the bridge and various viewpoints, you will also visit the famous hill-town of Orvieto just 6 miles away.

Orvieto was built on a massive limestone outcrop, and boasts over four millennia of history. Once a citadel of the Etruscans, the city is a medieval gem - little new building has been done since the 14th century. The city stands guard over the vineyards below, which produce a noted dry white wine made from Trebbiano grapes.

Orvieto is also famous for its stunning cathedral and well-conserved medieval town planning. Piazza del Duomo has the boldest and richest color of of the Italian Gothic cathedrals. The Duomo was built in the 13th century to commemorate the Miracle of Bolsena. The cathedral, located at the heart of the city, has a spectacular facade, featuring a myriad of mosaics, sculptures and low-reliefs. The interior chapels boast frescoes by Fra Angelico and Signorelli. (The latter artist took a good supply of Orvieto's wine as part of his commission.)

Then relax for the drive back to the ship or your hotel after a truly unique and refreshing day.

Santorini, Greece

Full Day Volcano Hike, Hot Springs and Thirassia Island Getaway

Order code: WDM-VOLCA

Approx. 6-7 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Minimum number of passengers: 6     (Smaller group? Ask us for pricing!)

This is a non-private group tour. If you have a large group, it may be possible to arrange a private charter.

This exclusive tour is perfect for those who are looking for a full day adventure beyond the standard Santorini itineraries.

This tour includes boat visits to lava islets, a volcanic crater, and unlike some cruise ship's offerings, also includes a 2 hour getaway to Thirassia island for exploration and swimming.

We'll start the day on the bus to Athinios port, where we will board the beautiful traditional boat ?King Thiras,? our host for the day. Our first stop will be the lava islet Nea Kameni. We leave the boat and walk an ascending soil path to approach the crater of the still-active Volcano.

Afterward, we sail to the second lava islet called Palea Kameni, where we find the incredible Hot Springs. We'll have about half an hour to swim in the green sulphur waters, or to bathe in the therapeutic mud.

Next, we leave for the lovely tiny island of Thirassia, where we'll have a stay of about two hours. This will give you an opportunity to both swim at the beach near the port, and to explore the lovely town and its surroundings.

When we re-board the boat, we'll begin to head in the direction of Oia, coming close to the caldera cliffs, so you will have the chance to take some superb photos. The colors and formations of the cliffs are impressive. As the boat approaches Oia, we can see its white houses built on top of the red cliffs, resembling spread snow. Here we have some excellent views of this picturesque village.

The boat will continue to sail toward the port of Fira, where you can see the town clinging to the edge of the cliff, the cable car, the whitewashed houses and churches, the narrow twisting alleyways, and the laboring donkeys. We'll dock at Athinios port, where we board the buses for our return, after an exhilarating day.

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

From the ship you will board a local tender and disembark after 15 minutes at the island's main port Athinios. Here you will board the motorcoach and ascend the colorful rocky sides of the caldera wall while enjoying panoramic views of the island.

Once the top is reached, you will make your way to the highest peak of Santorini (883 feet) to Mt. Profit Ilias where the monastery of the same name was built in 1712. From this point you have a magnificent view of the entire island. Departing from the village of Pyrgos you will board the bus and drive through traditional villages towards Ia on the northern end of Santorini.

On the way to Ia you will have the opportunity to see the different layers of lava that the volcano has produced over the years in every phase of its activity. After a drive of about 50 minutes you will arrive in the traditional village of Ia (also known as Oia) which is particularly well preserved, its pristine white houses and brightly colored vaults, courtyards and mansions endowing it with a special beauty.

Leaving the village of Ia you will be driven to a local winery for a small tour and wine tasting. After the winery visit you will continue to the capital of the island Fira, where you will have free time to walk and browse in the local small shops and cafés. You will return back to the ship by cable car after an exhilarating day.

Pompeii and Sorrento/Amalfi Coast

Order code: RAF-SRPOM

Approx. 7-8 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Minimum number of passengers: 100     (Smaller group?

After your tour of Pompeii, return to the picturesque towns of Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast.

Split Riviera Highlights

Order code: PPR-SPLRI

Approx. 3.5 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Minimum number of passengers: 10     (Smaller group? Ask us for pricing!)

Modern Split is the product of 17 centuries of building, renovating and remodeling so that the new of today combines in harmony with the old of yesterday. At the core of the sprawling cityscape is the palace that Emperor Diocletian built for his retirement at the turn of the 4th century. What began as an imperial residence and fortified camp is today an intriguing warren of narrow cobblestone streets, where pre-Romanesque churches live alongside Gothic Chapels, history-filled museums, art galleries and inviting restaurants.

Depart the pier and drive to the town of Trogir. This small town is located on an island connected to the mainland by a bridge. Except for some green parks, stone houses, palaces, churches, monasteries, towers and old city walls, occupy the entire island. The streets are narrow and they truly give a feel of how life might have been in the old days.

Visit the main attraction in Trogir, the 13th century Cathedral of St. Lawrence that is considered one of the finest examples of sacral architecture in Croatia. The unusual construction with three naves and three semi circular apses dominates the whole town. The main portal carved by the local artist "Radovan" in the 13th century is world famous.

Afterwards, view the exteriors of the Town Loggia, Town Hall and the Cipiko Palace. Leaving Trogir, travel just outside of town to the "Pantan" or Old Mill for local refreshments and to be entertained by a folk group who will entertain with Dalmatian songs.

Returning to Split, drive through the town where your guide will point out highlights such as the Cathedral, Golden and Silver Gates and Peristyle Square before returning to the pier.

Order code: PPR-MALTA

Approx. 3.5 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

While many of the sights of the old city are only available on foot, we will attempt to see everything possible with our private motorcoach. There will be approximately 30 minutes in the Mdina. There is approximately 1 mile of walking over even and cobblestone surfaces with 40 steps. The Mdina requires approximately 1 mile of walking over cobblestone streets with 5 to 10 steps. Both areas are pedestrian-only.

Explore the walled city of Valletta while glimpsing its diverse historical past. You will see the city's main square and pass many of the ancient buildings en route to St. John's Co-Cathedral, founded by the Knights of the Order of St. John during the 16th century.

Today the cathedral is the final resting place of several knights, their headstones lining the cathedral floor. You'll be escorted through the Mdina, Malta's "Silent City," and the center of Malta's development dating back almost 3,000 years.

You'll walk the streets of the walled city, which affords excellent views from its ramparts. On a visit to the 9th-century Old Cathedral you will view its collection of paintings and woodcarvings.

If time allows, we will also make a brief stop at Valletta's Upper Barracca Gardens for a panoramic view of the island's natural harbor. From this vantage point you'll also see the fortified cities of Senglea, Cospicua, and Vittoriosa.

You'll pass the harbor front area before proceeding outside of the Valletta city gates. During the trip from Valletta to Mdina your motorcoach will pass through the island's Arabic architecture.

Note: Should the Magisterial Palace be closed due to official functions, then the Museum of Archaeology will be visited instead.

From the inlet, we will take a short boat trip to a local beauty spot, the Blue Grotto, weather permitting. The Grotto is in fact an arched hollow denting the sheer cliffs. Nearby are a series of small, natural caves, which provide some beautiful light effects. The cave ceilings mirror the brilliant phosphorescent colours of the underwater flora.

After the boat ride, enjoy a 30-minute drive to Marsaxlokk fishing village, one of the most picturesque seaside localities in Malta. Marsaxlokk Bay is Malta's second largest natural harbour. It is the best place to see the colorful, traditional Maltese fishing boats, the Luzzus, with the mythical eye painted on their prows. The village is the Islands' main fishing harbour; its Sunday fish market is a fascinating insight into local life and the traditional industry. You will have some free time here to explore.

Upon leaving Marsaxlokk, enjoy a wine-tasting tour at a winery. The tour includes narration about Maltese Wine culture, a visit to the wine cellars and tasting of wines accompanied with local snacks.

At the end of a colorful day in Malta, we end with the quick 15-minute drive back to the pier.

Santiago de Compostela Historical Walking Tour

Order code: EUA-FDSDC

Approx. 8 hours

US$ TBA       (Contact us for pricing by starting an inquiry or sending an email.)

Your driver will meet you at your hotel or cruise ship port for the leisurely drive to SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, where you will meet your Private English-Speaking Official local guide.

Enjoy a walking tour in the historic quarter of the ancient pilgrimage city of Santiago de Compostela. This World Heritage City and capital of Galicia is the final landmark on the St. James pilgrimage route. Centuries of splendour and development have left us an urban layout in which the medieval Christian heritage is mixed with monumental Baroque buildings.

Enjoy a morning visit of the Ethnographic Museum of the Galician people, Plaza de Abastos market, Cathedral & old quarter.

The centre of the city is the Plaza del Obradoiro, which has important monuments, including the Cathedral. Its current Baroque façade gives way to a Romanesque doorway from the original building, the Pórtico de la Gloria, created by Master Mateo in the 12th century. Inside, Romanesque and Gothic elements alternate with other Baroque style decoration. In the Cathedral you have to follow the tradition: bump your head on the figure of its creator to obtain prudence and wisdom. At the main altar, a bust of the Apostle Saint James awaits your embrace. Another tradition is the waving of a huge incense holder, "El Botafumeiro", in the main transept, which even reaches the vaults.

After the tour you will have free time for lunch and to explore the city on your own before returning to Vigo.
